A time to connect with the Earth's abundance and your own
Sunday, August 2 3-9PM Mary's Garden Sanctuary Great Barrington, MA
Lammas Harvest Celebration In-Person Gathering We always need to celebrate. It balances out life's difficulties and helps us remember how fortunate we are. But especially now, when our lives have been turned upside down by so much uncertainty this spring, we need the regularity of the seasons and their gifts to bring us back to our roots. It's time to celebrate the sweetness of this season's fruits and our own.
Why Celebrate Lammas? Lammas is a Celtic holiday from my ethnic heritage that I've begun to reimagine into modern times. Most likely all indigenous peoples created rituals and celebrations to mark the beginning of the harvest season. So we will, too. At a time when we can easily forget where our food comes from and our indisputable reliance on the Earth and her gifts, marking the cycles of the seasons helps us remember our deep connection to this land that holds and supports us.
IS IT TIME FOR YOU TO
...tune in more deeply to nature's wisdom, deeper than you may ever have before?
...align with her cycles and an intimacy with your own deeper knowing?
...sharpen your intuition for the messages and mystery found in the land, in the rocks and trees and stars?
On the afternoon and evening of Sunday, August 2nd I invite you to join me to celebrate abundance and honor the first harvests of the summer.
Join me, if you like, in my favorite blueberry patch on Mount Washington at 1:30pm. We'll pick blueberries to bake into corncake over the fire later in the evening.
Or arrive at my home near Great Barrington at 3pm to begin an afternoon and evening outside. We will deepen our connection to this beautiful earth by engaging in a sit spot experience in my garden, yard, or the wetland nearby. We'll enjoy creating a nature mandala together, invite expansion of our intuitions as we work with the trees and rocks on my property, eat our own packed supper together and share blueberry corncake fresh from the fire. Then we'll dance under the stars with any fireflies still hanging around after they've mated.
This is also a time to celebrate what you're harvesting in yourself. What has COVID taught you? What has shifted in you as you watch yourself expand in this time of uncertainty? Perhaps now is the time to acknowledge in gratitude the seeds that you planted earlier in the year. Instead of just moving on to what's next, give yourself a few hours at Lammas to take in and celebrate what's ready to be harvested and enjoyed in yourself!
Gathering in the Time of COVID
In this time of increased precaution, I will do my best to create a safe environment for us all to commune and connect. I will look to each woman who attends to do what is right for her to maintain safety.
Guidelines: Attendance will be limited to 10 women. All activities will take place outdoors so that we may maintain proper social distancing protocols. Masks are required when we first gather, but if distancing is maintained, will be optional as you feel the need. A bathroom indoors will be available and hand sanitizer will be provided.
Please bring bug spray, sunscreen, your mask, something to sit upon, a water bottle, a packed supper, and layers for comfort as the day cools into evening.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to share them with me!
Your Invitation We are inextricably a part of the natural world around us. We are fed by its life blood. Schooled by its power and resilience.
But in our disconnected and hyper-materialistic culture most of us have been forced to cut the umbilical cord to her sustenance.
We rarely attune to her. Rarely make time to listen for her messages. Rarely allow ourselves to relax into her holding.
Little wonder we lose our vibrance and vitality.
This Lammas event is your chance to share in ritual, as our foremothers did, to remember what's been long forgotten.
As we join together to celebrate our rich harvests and fortify our determination this Lammas, we will create intentions to hold through the winter solstice and beyond.
If you feel called, please join me!
This investment in yourself is $90. Please message me if your only reason for NOT attending is cost.
